This annual activity, which targets children in the High Schools aims to not only involve the active participation of our youths in the observance of World AIDS Day but also to facilitate the development and/or the enhancement of the debating skills of our youth. Above all the exercise challenges young persons to Research, Analyze and Present information on HIV prevention, and HIV management, care and support of persons living with HIV/AIDS.
However, one could imagine that the activity has not been without its hiccups but since our underlying principle supports Proper Planning which Prevents Poor Performance, the annual debate therefore, attributes its success to thorough planning, which involves all the players and partners in the exercise. The detailed planning prior to the activity facilitated the selection of a moot, the selection of the judges and the venue, which is changed annually, to give the students and the community an opportunity to share in the activity.
Although, we have not undergone an extensive evaluation exercise to measure, the success of the debate, anecdotal information and observation has shown that the debate is successful to date.
Over the years, the students under diligent tutelage of their teachers have made their peers; their schools, themselves, and us proud with their well researched and well - analyzed presentations. I am sure this year will be no different.
In closing, we move to congratulate the astute competitors we kindly remind you that although a school may emerge the winner, and various students may collect awards for their outstanding performances, we consider all our participating students winners by their courage and fortitude in presenting their information to the audience.
