Keep It Real!!
Let’s be real. We all have heard the warnings: HIV is on the rise here in the Turks and Caicos. In the last two years our infection rate has risen by 53% in detected cases. That’s dangerous numbers for such a small country. And I’m sure you’ve heard that for every 1 person you’ve slept with there are 3 other persons who have had sex with you or that person. I know you’re tired of hearing all of this and I know you feel like you know all the details. But what are you doing to make sure it doesn’t happen to you? Are you protecting yourself every time you have sex?

Let’s keep it real; condom use is not as prevalent in this country as HIV/AIDS. The high rate of new HIV infections proves it. Yet condoms are so readily available everywhere you turn. They are always available at the National AIDS Programme for free as well as distributed for free in gas stations, bars, restaurants, and many other places. If used correctly condoms are 99% effective protection against HIV/AIDS, STIs and the prevention of pregnancy.

Often enough we hear couples or lovers admitting to not using condoms 100% of the time. They get caught up in the moment and opt not to use protection during intercourse. While this is a personal choice it’s also not the healthiest choice. That one time you neglect to use protection could be that one time that changes your whole life.

There are many reasons why some opt not to use condoms but for every reason condom distributors have given you the answer. The biggest excuse usually is it doesn’t feel good- then try a Ribbed, Extra-Sensitive, or Natural Feel condom. All brand-makers have these assorted variants. For those who are allergic to condoms try the Female polyurethane version- they are latex free and actually gives both partners a bit more sensitivity during intercourse. You can pick them up at the National AIDS Programme as well.

There is nothing more important than your health. Each choice that we make in life affects it. Don’t leave it up to someone else to protect you and your future. Put on a condom.
